Coron, Palawan Weather: Month by Month
Ok, so the question everyone wants to know! What will the weather be like during our expedition - so here we give a breakdown month by month of what weather you can expect in Coron, Palawan. Although of course, weather can change, so don't hold us to it!
January
January is one of the best months to visit Coron for weather, the potential typhoon pressure in December has passed and it’s pretty much clear skies! In January 2018 every one of our expeditions ran without any itinerary changes or interference from weather. I guess early January there could be very small chance of rain, but overall, one of the best months to visit.
February
Same as January, a great month to visit Coron for weather. Very minimal risk of bad weather or typhoon, it’s just before the high season of March when Coron get’s super busy so I would actually say February is the best month to travel. In February 2018 every one of our expeditions ran without any itinerary changes or interference from weather.
March
Beginning of the high season, a few international holiday like Easter, makes March probably the busiest month to visit Coron. Coron’s weather in March is great though! In March 2018 every one of our expeditions ran without any itinerary changes or interference from weather.
April
April is the quietest month of high season in Coron and Palawan generally. The weather is great as you would expect from peak season, but the streets are not super duper busy. After February, we’d say April is our best month to visit Palawan. In April 2018 every one of our expeditions ran without any itinerary changes or interference from weather.
May
Coron, El Nido and Palawan generally start to get pretty busy in May, especially towards the end of the month. It’s peak season, the weather in May is great, very small chance of rain, although it does start to turn normally in June, so you can expect to get a little bit of rain if the wet season comes in early. Although it’s rare, generally speaking May is a great month to visit Coron, El Nido and Palawan. In April 2018 every one of our expeditions ran without any itinerary changes or interference from weather.
June
Coron, El Nido and Palawan get pretty very busy in June. It’s peak season, the weather in June is generally great, although it does start to turn from high to low season in June, so depending on the season, you can expect to get rain if the wet season comes in early. Although it’s rare, generally speaking June is a great month to visit Coron, El Nido and Palawan. The earlier the better though. In June 2018 all but two of our expeditions ran without any itinerary changes or interference from weather.
July
We operate our group expedition the first 2 weeks of July, then we stop. The wet season usually arrives at the door at some point in July and trips to go out far on the boats can often be stopped by the coastguard. The weather in July is still mostly sunny and you can go weeks without serious rain, however it can also rain for days with no sign of stopping. We recommend avoiding travel in late July, if it’s possible, otherwise we hope for the best!
August
We don’t operate our group expedition in August the weather is typically too rainy, again if it’s a surprisingly dry wet season then you can get days on end in August where it doesn’t rain. Alas, chances are the weather in Coron, El Nido and Palawan in August will not be too great, with lots of rain.
September
We don’t operate our group expedition in September and don’t recommend tourists to travel in September as the weather is typically very rainy. If it’s a surprisingly dry wet season then you can get days on end in September where it doesn’t rain. Alas, chances are the weather in Coron, El Nido and Palawan in September will not be too great, with lots of rain which can affect your flights and ongoing travel.
October
The first two weeks of October there is still the hangover from the wet season, so we choose not to operate our expeditions. Although, unless it’s a uncharacteristically long wet season, half way through October should be clear skies again! So if coming to Coron, El Nido or Palawan in October we recommend to travel towards the end of October for the best weather chances.
November
November is a great month to travel to Coron, El Nido and Palawan for the weather. Especially considering that globally, November is typically a winter month. Most of S.E Asia and Europe is not great in November but Palawan is an exception. There can be some pressure situations in Philippines and typhoon risk in November, although this is more common in December, so generally speaking, we recommend to travel in November. In November 2017 all but one of our expeditions ran without any delays or changes to itinerary.
December
December is typically a great month to travel to Coron, El Nido and Palawan for the weather. Especially considering that globally, December is typically a winter month. Most of S.E Asia and Europe is not great in December but Palawan is an exception. There can be some pressure situations in Philippines and typhoon risk in December can be quite high, so generally speaking, we recommend to travel in December. In December 2017 there was a high amount of pressure warnings which caused a few of our expeditions to be altered.
